Malaika

I was born in Malaysia in 2006 to a Chinese mother and German father. I spent my childhood in Germany, attending an English speaking international school and now live in Malaysia. I have been playing classical piano since age 4 and have been regularly performing in public since age 6. My biggest performances for classical piano have been my own evening concert at the Oratory of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France in 2018, and as a guest pianist of the Kammerorchester Unter den Linden at the Berliner Philharmonie in 2019. I passed the ABRSM Grade 8 level for Piano with destinction when I was 11 and the ARSM with destinction at 18. Besides playing classical piano, I also enjoy composing modern songs and playing guitar. In 2020 I won the German national songwriting contest "Treffen Junge Musikszene"  with my song "Runaway" and in 2021 I won 3rd prize in the international songwriting constest "Dein Song für eine Welt" with my song "In a Dream". In 2021 I reached the semi finals of the 14th season of the TV show "Dein Song" with my song "Done" and in 2023 I reached the finals of the 16th season of "Dein Song" with my song "You Don't Know Me".
